Springtime Hard Day’s Night Hotel Wedding Photography: Angela+Chris’s April wedding at Liverpool’s premier boutique wedding venue.
I’ve shot so many gorgeous weddings at this hotel, so when I heard on the news on February 15th that there had been a fire at the hotel, I was hoping it was not anything major and that the suites were ok. When I seen the pictures on the news, it sunk in we would not be able to use them for Angela & Chris’s April wedding. We had initially planned to use the John Lennon suite for pictures, so it was time to come up with a plan ‘B’.
Thankfully with this venue, what it lacks in outdoor space, it more than makes up for in variety of interior locations for group shots. I travelled through to Liverpool to meet the couple again and it was decided we’d shoot the larger groups in reception, and use bar four for the smaller groups. The walnut panelling and colourful artwork in that area is both unique and would make a gorgeous backdrop, plus Angela & Chris’s pictures would be a little different from everyone elses as it was not a location I had used for group shots before.
On the day Angela was getting ready in one of the hotels larger rooms, and I met her and the girls to shoot details, dresses and some documentary coverage. Make-up and hair was provided by Michelle Halewood whom I’d worked with before & would highly recommend. The colourful room and eclectic furnishings provided a unique backdrop for the detail shots.
I met Chris and his groomsmen at the bar where guests had started arriving. After some documentary coverage, we went outside to get a few group shots in front of the distinctive pillars and on Matthew Street with the infamous Cavern Club in the background.
I then headed downstairs to ‘The Two of us Suite’ awaiting Angela’s imminent arrival in her stunning Justin Alexander tea length Dress which Angela had got from Cheshire Brides in Frodsham. A beautiful and rather emotional ceremony followed, before the happy couple were showered with confetti as they left the ceremony room and headed for the drinks reception.
I love this shot of them both, they’re totally beaming!
After some time mingling with guests and enjoying canapes, we then got stuck in to group shots, closely followed by the wedding breakfast and reception.
We may not have had access to the John Lennon suite, but it certainly didn’t restrict us with pictures, and after the meal we sneaked off to St Nicholas’s Church gardens to get a few pictures outside as it was a gorgeous day. The taxi driver wouldn’t even take payment and the ride was a freebie… how sweet was that? Instead of the night time shot on the balcony, the entrance to Blakes restaurant was used – tHE fairy lights framed the couple beautifully!
Some feedback from Chris & angela:
‘They are fabulous thank you so much. We knew we wanted you to do our wedding from the first time we looked round the hotel and saw your albums’.
