How did you meet? We went out for friends birthday. Jerome is best friends with her boyfriend and used to lived with them and I went to school with her. Our paths had never crossed before and after being introduced to him I “apparently” ignored him all night. At the end of the night we all went back to Jerome’s house to watch the Ricky Hatton fight. Everyone feel asleep apart from the two of us who laughed, talked, watched the fight, and Jerome got a blanket out and kept my feet warm (major brownie points)! As I was leaving Jerome gave me his number and we took things from there!!!
About the proposal – where / when did it happen? Was it a surprise? It was a surprise. Jerome went to his parents for a few days just before Easter and left me a massive Easter Egg with instructions not to eat it before Easter. Unfortunately I couldn’t resist and the Easter egg didn’t make it to Easter Sunday and when I told Jerome he said he expected nothing less. We got home Easter Monday evening as I had joined Jerome at his parents on Easter Sunday, I put my PJs on and got on the sofa. Jerome appeared with a bag of gifts saying these were my ‘real’ Easter gifts, as he knew the egg would not last. Jerome gave me three presents, the first was his Ipod, which goes everywhere with him. The second was his Man Utd shirt at which point I was a bit confused about why he had given me his shirt. Third and final was his TagHeuer watch which I know he cherishes. Still confused as to why I had been given these items, Jerome said I could keep the gifts which I knew were his prized possessions or I could swap them for a mystery gift. I opted for the mystery gift. Jerome presented me with a ring box with a plastic chicken ring in it and asked me to marry him. I didn’t give him an answer straightaway as I had bear hugged him and started to cry so he had to ask me what my answer was, I told him yes, obviously yes!
What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding day? I would say, remember it is only one day, get on with the preparations as soon as possible, enjoy the lead up to the wedding but don’t let it consume your life. Decide what you want your wedding to be and stick to it. Don’t let others interfere or worry about upsetting people, it’s your day (Wise words having been through it and closing in on the big day)!!! That’s it!
