Salford Quays Summer Engagement Shoot – Laura+Ben’s gorgeous blue sky pre-wedding shoot

Laura and Ben were one of the couples who won an engagement shoot in Salford Quays through one of my Facebook competitions. They’ve been together for 4 years and they’re due to get married in Ireland next year.

We were all hoping for a beautiful sunny day, there had been talk of a heatwave on the way but the weather is so unpredictable! We weren’t disappointed! We were blessed with the most gorgeous blue sky day of the year so far!

Salford Quays gets really busy during the day as there are so many activities going on, so in a bid to avoid the joggers and cyclists we met at 10am and found it to be largely deserted. We started off on the bridge next to the Lowry Outlet and bumped into four police officers who were really friendly and agreed to pose for a fun photo with Laura and Ben. We then headed over towards the bridge nearer MediaCity which was closed off and being rotated round to let a boat through. Laura and Ben had some photos near the bridge before we got some shots around where the ITV building is and the iconic Coronation Street sign. It was then on to the Imperial war museum, where the riveted walls make an interesting backdrop, and we then headed back over the water to get some photos using the tree-lined walkway.

As we walked towards Salford Quays water sports centre, we saw a crane and wondered what was going on. It turned out the crane was for bungee jumping! So, we had to get a few photos that included that! There’s always so much going on at the Quays. Even as we stood waiting for the crane to lift the bungee jumper to a higher height, there was a rowing club out practising, water polo going on in the background, and also some people having fun in the wakeboarding area. I love this area for both engagement shoots and wedding, to see more of my work in this area, head over to my Lowry Theatre hub page here.

We then headed over to the other side of the quays where it was a little quieter to get some photos with Detroit bridge in the background. It was a lovely shoot and I really enjoyed working with Laura and Ben. Hope they are both blessed with the same gorgeous weather on their wedding day next year!
