If you’re having your wedding during the winter and you have a 4pm ceremony, you may think that photography would be a little restricted. This is not the case! Whilst it’s true that compact cameras and lower end DSLR’s will struggle in low light or darkness, the same can’t be said for top of the range professional photographic equipment.

When professional equipment is combined with the knowledge and skills to use both available light and additional flash lighting, then what you have is beautiful low light winter wedding photos that have a really different look.

I love shooting winter weddings! They provide quite different challenges to summer weddings and are every bit as gorgeous! As you can see with this wedding, the large group photo was done outside on the roof terrace, well after the sun had set and smaller group photos were shot inside, with the bar as a backdrop.

The final portraits of the couple feature some creative LED uplighter that I borrowed from DJ Anton at Floorfillas, I love working with Anton! The lighting for the portraits was set up in the colours of the french flag, and Anton set up the dance floor lighting like this too.

Nicola & Louis live in Malta. Nicola’s from England and Louis is French, so they planned both a wedding in England & France. The couple met at Café Face in Val d’Isère

Here’s their story:

‘Our eyes met, numbers were exchanged and what followed was many desperado’s, a coin game and a dance-off… A missed flight and an extra night in Val D’Isere later and the relationship between us was born…

Much fun was had between Paris and Malta and meeting each other’s friends’… But after many bombaklaats, boats and back-flips the best surprise of our lives – we were pregnant!

9 months later, a change of country for Loulou and our baby boy Luca bounced into our lives, and things were never to be the same again!!

2 years later, a trip down memory lane and a nostalgic drink back where it all began – Café Face – and another big surprise… Loulou proposed on the slopes… and Nix said YES!

So here we are… 4 yrs later and we can think of no-where better to celebrate our marriage and the start of our next adventure than back where it all began – VAL D’ISERE…’
