The wedding ceremony was to be at St Francis Xavier church in Liverpool. I’d been there before a few years previously, but there had been a change of priest, so I meet the couple at the church a few days before to have a chat with the new priest and staff. It was great news to hear photography was still allowed! It’s a beautiful church inside and out.
Carla & Kevin’s wedding reception was to be at the Devonshire Hotel on Edge Lane. I’d not shot there before, but had checked out the venue beforehand and was hoping we’d be able to feature the Littlewoods buildings in some wedding portraits. They are such an iconic Liverpool landmark, and I’m loving the murals that have recently been added to the ends. It’s great to see these being used again.
With the ceremony being 3pm, it was going to be a tight schedule, but I thought dusk would be a better time for portraits on Edge Lane so that I could capture some moving traffic. On the day however, Edge Lane was the quietest I’ve ever seen it, so a huge thanks to Carla & Kevin for their patience getting the portrait below. It was worth the wait!
We had originally planned to split the group photos between the church and the Devonshire Hotel, but one of the drivers of the wedding car company had the phone number of security to get access to Angel Fields gardens, so we were able to use that space which made for some really gorgeous group photos and portraits. A huge thanks to Pam at Heritage Motors for being so amazingly helpful!

And then it was off to St Francis Xavier church to meet the Groom & guests.
We were really lucky and managed to get access to Angel Fields gardens (owned by Liverpool University) where we done the group photos and some portraits of Carla & Kevin.
Then it was on to the Devonshire Hotel on Edge Lane for Carla & Kevins wedding reception. They’d chosen a silver and blue colour theme for the wedding breakfast / reception room.
